I know that this is not the kind of rig that Scream and Fly'ers drool over, but do you guys think this is a fair price? I need to sell this boat, but I'm not getting very many nibbles... what gives?
Pictures at http://www.angelfire.com/mi/pyrotechnician/baja.html
1986 Baja 16'8" Sport 170, prism sparkle black/red/silver, Merc 150XR2, ski pylon, snap cover, 1994 galvanized trailer, new impeller, new steering, new seat vinyl. Engine runs perfect and strong, no performance mods, runs low 60-63 mph with a 23" aluminum prop. It's a great ski boat, It's not too big, it looks great, who wouldn't want it??
Is $5300 a fair price???

honestly, age is against your rig... (although it does look good for its age.)

IMHO: motor = $1500-2000 if everything checks out
trailer = $500
Boat = $1000 - $2000

If it was a bass boat, you probably wouldnt have much trouble selling it, but being that it is just a ski/pleasure boat, it makes things tough. The market seems very flooded with ski/runabout type boats right now. You will probably have a harder time selling it as summer progresses.

BTW, where have you advertised it?

I just listed it today in the "Boat trader" publication, and will be listing it next week in some local papers. I have been putting up ads with pictures at stores and gas stations for a month or two. I'm almost ready to just give it away. What I don't understand, is why people buy those stupid little 15-16' jet boats for $6000, and they can't pull a skier or do any better than 50-55 mph!

I agree with you..your boat would make a sweet boat instead of one of those Sea Don't boats but it's the mentality behind the whole thing. I have friends that always ask me about lake lice and I say why would you spend that when you could have a sweet boat for the same price...but boats are very expensive to maintain...so I guess it all depends on what you're into.
