Limited Production Planned For Fall 2008
FOND DU LAC, Wis., April 24, 2008 – Mercury Racing is pleased to announce the reintroduction of the 2.5 EFI ROS SS (Race Offshore Short Shaft) outboard with a limited production planned for the fall 2008. The engine was discontinued in 2005 with the implementation of stringent EPA and CARB emissions standards which it did not meet.
Production will be based on confirmed orders and the engines will be built one time per year in advance of the following season.
Racing engines do not require emissions certification if they are used solely for competition. The 2.5 EFI ROS SS will be sold direct to known, qualified race teams or through Mercury Racing dealers or OEM boat builders. It is the responsibility of the dealer or OEM boat builder to ensure the eligibility of race teams ordering engines through their business and communicate such information...

Mercury Marine Launches OptiMax Jet 80 and Jet 110 Outboard Engines

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (April 24, 2008) – Mercury Marine announced today the launch of the OptiMax Jet 80 and OptiMax Jet 110 outboard engines, perfect for shallow-water boating applications – whether it’s running rivers or hauling to your favorite fishing hole.
Because the OptiMax jet drive engines have no gear case or propeller extending below the hull, they pass over obstructions that could limit a conventional propeller-driven outboard engine.
Compared to competitive four-stroke jet drive outboards in their class, these new two-stroke Direct Injected OptiMax offerings feature an excellent power-to-weight ratio, which make them ideal for shallow-water running conditions typical in jet applications.
The 1.5L OptiMax Jet 80 outboard engine is based on the 115 hp OptiMax and has a three-star CARB rating. The 2.5L OptiMax Jet 110 outboard engine is based on the 150 hp OptiMax and has a two-star CARB rating.

LAKE FOREST, Ill., March 20, 2008 – Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC) today announced the signing of a letter of intent to sell certain assets relating to its Baja boat business to Fountain Powerboat Industries, Inc., of Washington, N.C.
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, and completion of the sale is subject to certain conditions. FOND DU LAC, Wis. (March 13, 2008) – Mercury Propellers, the world leader in propeller technology, introduces Fury – the fastest bass propeller on the market. For years, bass boaters have asked for a little extra something, and Mercury Propellers has responded with Fury.
Fury is cast from Mercury’s X7 Alloy™. According to Mercury engineers, X7 is 30 percent stronger and four times more durable than conventional stainless steel. This strength and durability enables Mercury Propellers to manufacture a prop with thinner blades and higher rake angles, creating unprecedented efficiency in all ranges of operation.
Fury is built to increase both acceleration and top speed; the large blade area produces a better hole shot, and the high-performance blade geometry creates better top speed.
In Mercury-conducted tests, Fury provided 20 percent better acceleration from 0 to 20 mph and was one mph faster at top speed than...
